For Foals: You must submit a Breeding Certificate also known as covering certificate. Members can find the certificates of registered mares in their OL-/OS-account. For mares who have not yet had an Oldenburg foal and for mares from other countries than Germany please fill in the Inspection Form Mare/Stallion and upload a copy of the pedigree and the general information in the mares’ passport. We also need the Registration Form for entering the foal. Your foal should already have been microchipped by a veterinarian. Please send the Microchip_Implantation_Certificate_2022.pdf signed by the vet.

For Mares: If your mare has previously had a foal registered with the GOV, she is already listed in the Oldenburg Mare Book. Mares without a registered foal or those with their first foal at foot must be presented at an official inspection. Please send Inspection Form Mare/Stallion to Bastian Scharmann.

For Stallions: Stallions must also be presented for inspection for breeding approval. You can register for a Stallion Inspection with Inspection Form Mare/Stallion. For stallions from other countries than Germany, we need a copy of the pedigree and the general information in the stallions’ passport. Completing the Paperwork: When your horses have successfully passed the inspection, you will receive confirmation and the relevant papers.

Mail-in-Registration

We offer a convenient way for your veterinarian to register your foal. Send the Breeding Certificate and Foal Registration Form by email to Bastian Scharmann. We will send you all the necessary forms and you can complete the registration with the help of your veterinarian. This saves you time and effort.

Mare Performance Tests are also offered for mares. Here the mares are tested for their movement and riding qualities under the saddle. Grades are given for rideability and the 3 basic gaits. The mares are presented by their own rider under the direction of the judges. A successfully passed Mare Performance Test can increase the value of the mare for breeding. In addition, the mare can be awarded a premium based on her performance in the test.
