Guidelines for Auctions

For Buyers

Selecting a Horse

Auction is a long-standing tradition in Vechta. Our experienced staff will guide you through the entire process of buying a horse. Tell us your wishes and requirements and we will put together a suitable preselection for you from the current Auction Collection.

Getting to Know Your Favourites

We will be happy to arrange an appointment with you, where you can ride your preferred candidates without obligation and test their character traits. During the try-out, our team will be on hand to help and advise you. Our Auction Veterinarians will be happy to provide you with information about the results of the health examinations.

For Seller

Auction Selection

Every horse that is to be sold at the Oldenburg Horse Center in Vechta must go through an auction selection and a photo/video appointment. Our goal is to showcase your horse in the best possible way. The Collection consists mainly of Oldenburg horses. However, high-quality horses from other breeding associations are also welcome. The dates for Central Auction Selections can be found here. Alternatively, home visits can be arranged.

Horse Auctions

(and Training for Riding Horses)
Depending on the auction date, the riding horses will be stabled at the Vechta Horse Center 2-4 weeks before the auction date and will be cared for, trained and presented by our Auction Team. Foals are usually delivered 1-2 days before the Auction at the earliest. At Foal Auctions, sellers take over care and feeding during the auction days. The Oldenburg Young Breeders Team can present the foals. A full service is provided for the riding horses.

Delivery

The Oldenburg Team is responsible for organizing the presentations for customers and the auction process. At Foal Auctions, the breeders are on site and, in addition to the Auction Team, are the point of contact for customers. After the hammer falls, the Auction Office handles the invoicing/payment. Foals continue to be cared for by the breeders until they are handed over to the buyers. When the foal is handed over to the buyer, a final Clinical Examination by a Veterinarian will be carried out. When the examination protocol is submitted to the Oldenburg Breeding Society, they will transfer the sum of the invoice to the seller. For riding horses, the sum of the invoice will be transferred to the seller 4 weeks after the auction.

After Sale Service

Payment

After the auction, you will receive an invoice from the Auction Office for the purchase price, which will include the payment due date.

Collection

Of course, you do not have to pick up the horse you purchased immediately after the bid is accepted. We will be happy to arrange an individual appointment with you. Until then, your new family member will be in good hands with our hardworking Oldenburg Team. Your horse will be delivered with a headcollar, travel boots and a stable rug in the Oldenburg colours. Foals remain with their dam in the breeder's stables until weaning.

Management of Your Horse

Naturally our team is also happy to help you after the auction. Whether it's organizing the transport or specific questions about the feeding or training of your horse, our team will be happy to advise and support you with your new sport partner.

If Things don't go According to Plan

Sometimes it takes a little time for the rider and horse to gel. In these rare cases, you can turn to us with confidence. Even when things get difficult, we are always happy to provide advice and support.

Insurance

All horses purchased at our auctions are insured for an additional eight weeks through the Oldenburg Breeding Society. Foals are even insured until the 31st of December. We will be happy to organise follow-up insurance for your horse.
